I see from the green fields beyond page at greenflash that Cyril; Bliss passed away just before Christmas , sad as when we were at Catterick in 1964 I believe that radio sect was called Cribbage sect , that was with Ken Trot Sailor Daley and a few others . He will be sadly missed by some, RIP Ken.

All you old soldiers must remember that we started the move to Fallingbostel late 1971, as I moved into a new hiring at Winsen Aller along with Mick Davey, Brian Reynolds, Len Smith, Daisy May, Ginge Hughes and many more that their names slip my mind

Just a gentle reminder today is Cambrai Day , remembering all the good parties we have had over the years ,old baths on top of the iconic Comet inside of the barracks in Detmold ,stealing a Chieftain from the Grey's in Fin B , smoke grenades into the Sgt mess in Woofers and one for Geordie , car being driven in to the Dining hall at Caterick in 1958 . Those were the good old days , I expect everyone has got lots of memories of their own. Tex

I can't tell you where the picture was taken but note the 105mm gun which was not bought into service until 1961/62 it also has I.R. headlights so it can't be anything to do with the Korean War.

Reading through the above brief I can remember a similar formation of regiments in the Danish Army , that was when we went to Denmark in 1971 , it appears that our army is getting to the size of the Danes .

One of the things I should have mentioned earlier is the two Scouses do talk to each other as seen in the rare photo of them both.

I would like to thank the Sky engineer who was in Bovington a couple of weeks ago and gave my old friend my e-mail address . I have been trying to catch up with him for sometime, a lot of you may remember him as he ended up as civvy tech store man in Bovvy. The lads name working for Sky is Darren didn't get his surname , pity. Anyway thanks Darren. Regards TEX COLLINS

I can remember lying in bed @ 14/3 Schiller Str. and saying to the Boss what the flipping hell is that , as a Sqn of Centurions were pounding up the Autobahn. It was the talk of the NAFFI the next day , but don't ask me about the outcome.

Compo

I remember that tea was not made in the BV, it was made by boiling the water in the Benghazi then brewed it in the Dixie, still using the sugar and the evaporated milk. some where I have a photo of just this procedure on Detmold Station platform while waiting for the flats to move. In the compo there where tins of egg and bacon, bacon on its own (very salty) oatmeal blocks that you could make into porridge, Brummy Northwood tried it hated it then stuck it on to the bazooka plate it took us ages to chisel it off. There was bars of soap, toilet paper (for small arses) mostly used for writing messages on. I quite liked the treacle pudding (fried of course) and the ginger pud, I shall sign off now as nostalgia is getting to me.
