Another couple of pictures SOT kind permission Of John Patey. John Patey ex 6th who served with the Regiment in Detmold recently made contact sending me a number of pictures, which are shown for your interest. Not sure how long he spent with the Regiment but should find out in due course when I hope to learn more.

Just found this post. I was a 6 / 3 RTR brat in Homs, Detmold and later Fally and Woofers. Then Hong Kong before heading to NZ. My old man was 6th to start with then 3rd after amalgamation. I found a great little video of the 6/3 RTR in Detmold that has him in it. i would love to know if anyone remembers him - David Sherry (Sgt in Detmold)

Perhaps, young Mr Sherry, this is the video you refer to? www.facebook.com/smgereplicas/videos/1067450419982168/One does not need to be on FB to view it. A really delightful video indeed and whilst featuring 3 RTR Detmold very early 1960, it could easily be taken as 2RTR in Munster before they took over from 6RTR in Homs. I was that new schoolgirl on that Bedford bus, Munster 1959 just before we moved to Homs. Your parents have been most kind in furnishing me with written accounts of their lives in Homs with 6RTR and, have even donated their original photos to me for considered use in my forthcoming book on 6RTR in Libya. Are there any other ex-6RTR folk or sons and daughters of, who would be thoughtful and generous enough, as your parents and a host of others have been, to contribute photos and accounts please, of 6RTR in Libya to further my research for the book? Your stories and photos deserve to be seen but you need to be willing to do something about it ..... that's where I come in encouraging you to get in contact with me, please. Thank you.
