19 members present for the September branch meeting. No guest speaker as history shows that due to having no meeting in August, September tends to have a full Itinery, and so it proved this year. Loyal toast, the Regiment, Green Fields and Welfare were dealt with. Minutes of the July meeting were read, as were the minutes of the July 2015 meeting as that was the AGM, and AGM 2016 was this month, another reason for not having a guest speaker. The comittee was re-elected without change for the next 12 months. The Chairman then gave his annual address.
We were informed that our own Dave Orman is undergoing training to be a voluntary SSAFA case worker, this following the recent SSAFA presentaion to the branch. Dave received a well deserved round of applause. The branch secretary was able to show the new branch wall sign to those present. It should be on the outside wall of our venue quite soon. Names were taken for those who wanted complimentary tickets for the TANK 100 event at the Tank Museum on Saturday 17th September. Members were informed about the plan to visit the graves of the Tank 100 veterans in the UK on 15th September. The Branch President will be placing a tribute on the grave in Wool, whilst the Secretary will be visiting the grave in Wareham Cemetary.
Dave Orman confirmed that the branch has been guaranteed 4 places on the Not Forgotten Association visit to Highgrove House in September. It was confirmed that the Branch Standard would be paraded at the Battle of Britain Commemeration Service in Poole on Sunday 11th September. This is following an invite by the Royal Air Force Association. The letter from the CO RTR to all the Association branches was available for members to see. Details regarding tickets to the opening of the Field of Remembrance in London on 10th November were given and names taken of those who wish to bid for tickets. The letter regarding the Plymouth branch request for funds to help promote the RTRA at the Rotary Club South Devon annual business day golf tournament was available to all members present. The branch voted agree to the request and our views have been forwarded to HHQ RTR. Members were reminded of the annual Cambrai Lunch in Bovington on Friday 18th November. The branch has received an invitation from the Medway branch for two members and partners to attend their Christmas function.
Cambrai 2017.
Initally, due to only a small number of members wishing to attend the celebrations in France next year, it was decided not to organise a branch trip and for those wishing to go to join up with other branches. Things have changed and it has been decided to investigate a branch organised excursion for November 2017.
