Having arrived home from Bovington on Saturday lunchtime, I spent the rest of the day recovering, lots red wine & port plus a couple of pints of cider, why do I do it? Again a very enjoyable Cambrai lunch, ex 1 RTR were a bit thin on the ground this year, only myself, Bob Nagy and Pete George. Not that this stopped us having a brilliant time, we met a number of current 1 RTR SNCO's including the RSM designate who has agreed to be a guest speaker at Bournemouth & Poole RTRA. Ex 3 RTR were again pretty well represented with both Dave Larcombe and Dutch Holland from the Bournemouth & Poole branch. The fatboy breakfast next morning was excellent although it failed the Tiny Hart Scarborough test! tinned tomatoes rather than fresh fresh! At Scarborough ( 1 RTR reunion) any hotel that serves me tinned tomatoes at breakfast loses my custom forever, but for Bovington I will make an exception due to the fact I have no choice. Bob Nagy saved my bacon, literally! he lent me a fiver as we had to pay cash for breakfast and I was without funds in my pocket, and yes I did pay him back.
All in all another excellent Cambrai Lunch, although the unusally low turnout of 59 was a bit concerning, as was the very low numbers of ex RTR members, of the 59 sat down only about 15 were the old and bold. The GSM promised that the event will get a much higher profile next year in order to to get the numbers back to the 100 mark. Fear Naught

GSM at Bovington has told me that there is still a few spaces left and the cost has been reduced to £30. those already booked will get a refund.
