16 members present this month. We were relegated to a room upstairs due to a darts match being played downstairs. The green fields had one entry, Bill Winch who has not been seen for quite a while has sadly died. The London branch newsletter was available to view. It was agreed to fund the cost of a mini bus and allow the branch to be represented at the Nottingham branch service of remembrance at the National Arboritum on Wednesday 8th June. Approx 10 persons will be making the trip including Graham Collins, who will be taking the branch standard.
Prior to this event, The Burton (Dorset)armed forces and veterans day is being held on Sunday 5th June. I am taking one of our World War II vetrans to this event and am likely to carry the branch standard on this occasion.
We as a branch have been invited to the VIP veterans enclosure at Tankfest 2011 on Saturday 25th June at the tank museum. It was fantastic last year and my name is on the list for complimentary tickets already. Advance notice of the 2 RTR Afghanistan homecoming parade on 14th July in Weymouth was given. I intend to take a days holiday to welcome home and support the men of the 2nd. I will travel by train so that liquid refreshments can be consumed safely.
No guest speaker this month, which is just as well because with lots to discuss the meeting lasted much longer than usual.
