Minutes of the 2008 January meeting of
The Royal Tank Regiment
Association London Branch held at the Barley Mow Horseferry Road
SW1.
Meeting convened at 1610hrs
There were present:-
The Chairman John Dunn
The Vice Chairman Mr.John Rickson,
Secretary Mr.Barry Wicks
The Treasurer Mr Eric Locke,
The Welfare officer Mr.David Frances,
News letter and Service Records Officer Mrs B Rickson.
Plus 38 members signed in.
Appoliges received from 10 members.
The exhortation and silent tribute was conducted by the Vice Chaiman and observed by all present.He also offered a toast to 'He Majesty The Queen'. 'The Regiment'. and Absent friends. This was also observed by all present.
Chairman took the Chair.He welcomed every one to the meeting and introduced Les Matthews and Elaine Nunn to the members present.
Chairman's Report.
Cambrai dinner this year.
Subsidies to members attending would be determined by how many meetings they had attended as any subsidies would be paid out of raffle money.
Secretaries report
No meeting had been held since October 2007 so no minutes were available,All correspondence received would be available to view after the meeting. Proposed date for the presentation ofthe new Regimental Standards was the afternoon of Wednesday 25th June 2008.
Treasurers Report.
We were experiencing maintenance cost which the outgoing Treasurer had only just picked up on. The new Treasurer would contact the Bank to try and resolve this problem.
Welfare report.
David emphasised on the importance of wearing the Regimental tie and how an ex German Panzer soldier had been given the opportunity to escape from a british POW camp commanded by a Tanky officer prior to the Russians taking over.
Bill Downs had undergone He had been unable to attend one funeral due to ill health but had managed to have representation of the Regiment by a colleague.
The Chairman thanked David for his detailed report.
New Members Secretary
2 New members joined today and one had joined on line.

Bruce and George
Dates for this year were much the same as last year.
1 RTR would be helping out were possible

Beryl and John would be travelling to Korea in April.
The date of the AGM.

Flowers to be sent to Stan Goodyear's funeral by David,
Vice Chairman asked if it was possible to bring the AGM forward to the the March meeting, this was agreed by all present subject to the availability of Gen Rob our President
A proposed date to visit the Arboretum, 18th May, it is hoped to have some of Mary's girls along.

The business of the meeting complete the Chairman closed the meeting the time being 17-22hrs
