There is coverage in the media about a planning application made by the armed forces charity, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), to purchase a house near the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court in Surrey. The home is intended for use by Service families visiting sick and injured personnel being cared for at Headley Court. An online petition has been set up which has received over 40,000 signatures so far. please add you support petitions.pm.gov.uk/Headley/www.pm.gov.uk/output/Page821.asp

SSAFA families house gets planning approval There is widespread coverage in the media about how the planning application made by the armed forces charity, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) to purchase a house near the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court in Surrey has been approved by Mole Valley District Council. The application was agreed by the planning sub-committee, who voted 17-0 in favour proposal last night, Wednesday 1 August 2007. The seven-bedroom house will now be converted to enable it to be used by relatives of people being treated at Headley Court. The MOD welcomes this decision. Although there is already limited family accommodation at Headley Court the SSAFA house at Ashtead would provide useful additional accommodation for families visiting relatives who are being treated at Headley Court.

Who would try to block a application like this. I'll bet not one of them had a son or daughter in any forces. I just can not believe any British person would go along with the objection. Geordie Young.
