18 people present for the October 2018 branch meeting.
Loyal Toast/The Regiment, A minutes silence was held for Tony Allen. Minutes of the September meeting was passed.
Copies of the updated branch address list were available for those that wanted one. Details of the RAC Corps Sunday at Royal Hospital Chelsea on 28th October 2018 were available.
Members were reminded of the wreath laying in Poole Cemetery on Sunday 4th November 2018. Details of the Festival of Remembrance in St James Church (Poole) on Saturday 10th November were made available. It was confirmed that as usual, the Branch Standard would be paraded at Poole Park on Remembrance Sunday. A branch Wreath would also be laid.
Members were informed of a planned commemeration of the 100th anniversary of the death of 2Lt Tattersfield at his grave in Wareham on 20th November 2018. He died in Wareham on 20th November 1918, a victim of "Spanish Flu". 2Lt Tattersfield took part in the very first Tank action in history at Flers-Courcellete in September 1916.
Members were reminded to get their Ladies Lunch returns back in good time.
Following the meeting the Chairman introduced the guest speaker, Mr Stephen Pope, is the creator of the First Tank Crews facebook page. He gave a presentation on the first Tank crews,concentrating on the tank D-Dutchess who had local men in her crew during the first Tank action at Flers-Courcellete. He had a handout prepared which I have scanned and attached for you to view.
