19 members present for the March 2016 branch meeting. The Loyal Toast, The Regiment, Green Fields were duly carried out and the minutes of the February meeting were carried. Members were caught off guard when "My Boy Willie" rang out as soon as the CD player play button was pressed, which was a refreshing change from the usual few seconds delay and the tension of will it or won't it play? Details regarding a trip to Korea for Korean War Veterans was given, as were ticket costs for Tankfest 2016. Names were taken of those attending the RTR Sponsored Church Service and Curry Lunch at Bovington on 20th March 2016.
The guest speaker was then introduced, Warwick Taylor who had previously addressed us as President of the Bevin Boys Association gave a very interesting talk on Coincedences and Hisorical facts. He had with him the service record of Lt Chard of "Rorkes Drift" fame, informed us that Nell Gwynn was paid £500 a fortnight in the 1600's I suppose just for selling Oranges! One coincedence he mentioned was that he was also ex RAF and found himself living next door to Barnes Wallace's daughter, he then showed some very intersting photos regarding the great man. Warwick also did very well in the after meeting raffle, he took home two prizes and could have gone away with four but maybe the thought the Tankies would Lynch him if he did.
