In November we will be having David Fletcher of the Tank Museum at Bovington as guest speaker. In November 2007 he gave a fantastic presentation on the battle of Cambrai. He will again present Cambrai but with a different slant. Gareth Davies and the signal school have been helping David with some technical issues regarding the presentation, and Gareth will be attending on the night. He is approaching a number of RTR people at Bovington in order to increase the "serving" presence at November's meeting. I have written to the Bovington branch inviting them along, and I will be writing to the GSM at Bovington (2 RTR) inviting him and RTR members of the Sgt's mess. RHQ RTR will also be informed and invited and I am contacting the not insignificant numbers of RTR in Weymouth to advertise the meeting (this post being the main contact for Weymouth, nominate a driver and pile into a car, it's only 30 minutes away).
5 years ago Paul Ramsey (Secretary of the Scarborough branch) was present at the original Cambrai presentation as were Wolfie McKendrick (1&4 RTR) and members of the Nottingham branch, both Paul and Wolfie can vouch as to what a great night it was. We had 30+ last time and we are aiming for similar or more this year. We will even have some food too! ( note! SOME food I never said lots of food). so if your local to Bournemouth & Poole, this is a branch meeting I suggest you might want to stick your nose through the door and have a look at! and you don't have to join the branch (but i bet you do).
