17 members were present for the April 2012 branch meeting. Birthday greetings were given to Mac McKanny one of our WWII veterans. Details of the Desert Rats Association reunion were available to view.
Names were taken of those wishing to attend the Nottingham branch remembrance parade on 13th June 2012 at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas, Staffordshire. It was agreed that branch funds would cover the cost of the mini bus, and that individuals would cover their own costs in regards to the function afterwards.
It was confirmed that the guest speaker for the July (AGM) meeting would be the Regimental Colonel.
The Treasurer then presented a statement of accounts for 2011 which was accepted and signed off.
Dave Larcombe then officially took over from Kevin Coughlan as treasurer. The branch then thanked Kevin for his efforts as treasure over the last few years.
The chairman then closed the meeting and introduced the guest speaker, Capt. Daz Logan 1 RTR. Daz gave an update on 1 RTR and then proceeded to inform us about the current redundancy position regarding the army, the different tranche’s and the numbers and ranks involved. This subject was close to Daz’s heart as he was within 48 hours of becoming a civilian due to his inclusion in the compulsory redundancy list. The good news is that he has secured employment and will only have a weekend off before starting “a real” (only joking) job.
