18 members present this month, including 1 new recruit, Rick Anstis ex 3 RTR. The loyal toast and toast to the regiment were followed by a nil return in the green fields section. The London branch and Bristol & Bath branch newsletters were available to view. A further update on travel arrangements for cambrai 2012 was given, alternative options are being looked at as we are unlikely to be able to even half fill a 49 seater coach.
An update on the Ladies lunch in January was given. It was agreed to limit the cost to £15 per head with branch funds subsidising the other £3.50. It was agreed to invite the RSM of 1 RTR to this function and to invite the RSM of 2 RTR next year, The Regimental Colonel and Regimental Secretary are invited each year.
Graham Collins confirmed he would be parading the branch standard at Poole park on remembrance Sunday. Dave Clarke our president will lay the wreath on behalf of the branch.
I confirmed that an article describing our branch visit to Lulworth has been sent to RHQ for inclusion in the Regimental journal.
Guest speakers for November will be a 2 RTR double bill. WO1 Towel RSM 2 RTR and WO1 Halkerston 2 RTR, RSM RAC Training Regiment will be giving us a rundown (possibly a slide show) of 2 RTR in Afghanistan earlier this year.
