21 members were present for the July meeting. Ex 3 RTR present were Dave Larcombe and Ken "Dutch" Holland. The Loyal toast was followed by a nil return in the green fields. The minutes of the June meeting were made available as was the Nottingham branch newsletter. Barry Fellowes, the chairman, gave us a briefing on the recent trip to the arboretum in Nottingham and the RTR parade there. Dave Larcombe then gave us a briefing on the 2 RTR medal parade in Tidworth which he attended.
Details regarding the branch trip to the AFV gunnery school at Lulworth were finalised, all is set for our first visit there for over 5 years.
Details regarding the 2 RTR parade in Weymouth were finalised, around 2 dozen former tankies will be gathering in one spot to cheer the troops as they march past. There is a reception afterwards where we will be able to meet with and talk to the men of the 2nd.
We confirmed the date of our ladies lunch as the 15th January 2012.
It was agreed to look into the cost of hiring a coach for Cambrai 2012. I stated that I will contact the Bovington branch to see if we can come together on this one and have a 59 seater “Dorset Coach” in order to keep costs down.
The July meeting was also the AGM, The chairman gave a speech, recapping the events of the past year. The committee has been reappointed for another year, although Kev Coughlin may be standing down as treasurer during 2012.
Sadly the guest speaker, RSM 2 RTR, was unable to attend so the meeting ended and the ale flowed.
