I can see Mick Misun,Charlie Mead,Terry Cording,Chris Pugh and Dave. I should know the bloke at the front but I can't put a name to him.Just had an after thought Whizzz,Stan Green, very good football player. Also a stab in the dark, the chap on the left, isn't that an ex officer called Jim Selway, who since leaving the Regiment worked for British Aerospace.

Oddly enough Jim Selway called in to see me about 18 months ago. He is now living in the Oman but has a holiday home somewhere Oxford way. There is a similarity but it is not him in the picture. This picture shows him in the early sixties his driver was Sid Bevis.

I cannot remember if it was with the regiment or when I was on ERE at 657 Avn Sqn (Soltau), but i had a two-month stint at Larzac, France with both units.
Anyway, whoever it was with, we had a day out to Toulouse to see Concorde 001. It was scheduled to take its maiden flight the day we went, but it rained, so Concorde stayed in the hangar, covered in paper. Some wag asked why the Frenchies never bothered unwrapping the plane for our visit.
And we drove through Roquefort. A whole village stinking of sweaty feet! (Nice cheese, though.)
Speaking of Larzac with the Regiment, I remember the day we all went to the coast near Cap d'Agde. Our little piece of the beach was separated from a nudist colony by a stream that was rumoured to be a sewerage outflow.
Unperturbed, our lads (I remember "Spider Smith clearly, but the remainder are a bit foggy), held green towels aloft and waded out and around the stream flow, onto the beach. This was after much conversation with some Germans stood at the "present arms".
Our boys were easy to spot as they strolled up the beach and not bothering to conceal their stares.
Tanned above the waist, pale legs and lily-white backsides, and the green towel draped casually over the shoulders.
Why do all the best photo opportunities happen when you don't have your camera ready?
