If Ken Parker was in the regt from '57-'59 how come there's a conq in one of the photos when they weren't issued till the early 60s? Come to think of it,it was the conq troop that came into being in the early 60s although I don't remember C Sqdn having a single conq.Someone tell me if I'm talking b......s!!

If you look at my photo's in Detmold '57 to '59 you will see me 'Charlie standing in front of a Conq of 'B' Squadron. This was in '59 and the Troop Sgt was George Butler.

Look closely at the Conq and you will see it is a "A" Sqn tank. I believe each Sabre Sqn had one at that time.

Can any one of you knowledgeable people tell me why the ruperts appear to be wearing black coveralls on this parade and the o/rs are wearing green?

Must have been around the time they were being issued and of course there had always been a pecking order, that is my theory any way. Also I see among the pictures a Mk1 Ferret S/c, that must have been a recent issue as I seem to recall the old Dingo armoured car was around at that time.

Ken Parker was indeed in 3 RTR in 57/59 and Conquerors did arrive in 1958. Officers wore black overalls. ORs at that time only had olive green. Ken Parker.

[The best bit was watching them firing on the ranges , the first round took the turret completely off an old target tank at about 1500 metres , we all cheered.
