18 members present for the November branch meeting. At last the branch sign is on the outside wall of the Ex Servicemens Club for all to see. It's only taken 2 and a half months! Green Fields, Welfare, and minutes of the October meeting were all dealt with. An update on the January Ladies lunch was given, which included being able to see the menu. An update on Cambrai 2017 was given. Our allocated spaces in the hotel in Cambrai have all got names against them, so we may have to ask for some more. The branch address list also got it's annual update so everything is on track. Members were reminded about parade in Poole Park on Remembrance Sunday. Graham Collins will be carrying the branch standard and John Howell, one of our WWII veterans will be laying the wreath.
Our guest speaker had to cancel at the last minute but Dave Larcombe came to the rescue when he presented a slide show showing the recent "Not Forgotton Association" trip to Normandy in which he and John Howell participated. John fell over due to slipping on seaweed whilst visiting Gold beach and the studs on his cap badge (Northamptonshire Yeomanry) caused bruising and bleeding on his head. His response was that at last I can claim to have been injured and bleeding on Gold Beach, even if it is 72 years too late! John had missed Gold Beach on D Day due to being in hospital with his Appendix.
December is our informal social gathering rather than a meeting so everyone was reminded to bring food and goodies.
