15 members present for the meeting. The toast to the Queen and the Regiment were given. The green fields was a nil return and an update on our older members who are not in the best of health was given by those who are in regular contact with them. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. It was agreed that we would issue an invite to Lt Col and Mrs May for the branch BBQ on 26th July. It was confirmed that the BBQ would commence at 12.00hrs on the day.
It was agreed contribute £75 towards the cost of the food. The chairman read out the thank you message from Mac McKanny's sister in regards to the branch's attendance at his funeral. Details were given in regards to the Burton Village (Christchurch) armed forces day parade on Sunday 15th June. Some members are planning to attend and the branch standard may well be on parade. The chairman informed the branch that the secretary had been the invited guest speaker at the Wessex branch, Parachute Regiment Association, spring lunch in which he gave a description of the RTR and the RTRA. It appeared to go down well. The treasurer confirmed that the branch polo shirt design had been finalised, it was agreed to go ahead with this project. it was agreed to donate £25 to the main RTRA account held by RHQ.
With no further business to discuss, the chairman closed the meeting and introduced the guest speaker, Mr Robert Bone a Dorset representative from ABF The Soldiers Charity. You may well recall we had a guest speaker from ABF in November, Bob was along to introduce himself, and update us on the Soldiers charity. He explained the "system" at local level and brought along some pamphlets and brochures as well as ABF wrist bands. Despite the short time between ABF guest speakers there were a lot of questions that Bob did his best to answer, he did manage to survive the "grilling" and hopefully we will see him again.
