Gentlemen OK those who aint gentlemen just sit around and talk among yourselves. The name is Peter, served, with pride, with 1 RTR from 1960 to 1972. Munster, Hohne, Aden and Catterick. The latter posting when The First And Finest were the RAC Trg Regt. When 1 RTR went back to BAOR I was " invited " to stay behind as a Link Sgt Radio Instructor with 9/12 Lancers, nice enough lads, I think they must have had some sort of gambling problem though, kept going on about the gee gee's and instead of driver advance they would make a sort of clicking noise and say " walk on Neddy " I ended up running the Radio Wing but for the last 12 months, ( with QDG ) I was the Education Sgt, I think the RAC TRG RGT was the only outfit to have an Education Sgt cos by then it was an all officer corps the RAEC that is. Left to train as a Probation officer , final training post was in a nice enough place called NEWCASTLE. bonny lads and worked in Durham City and Peterlee. Pleased to report I was the Proby for the 4 " wet " pits, Easington, Blackhall ,Horden and Seaham. A minor claim to fame was I became an " expert " ( drip under pressure? ) in the law concerning sea coaling. Then moved back to Merseyside to be near Mam and Dad. Did 23 years in all but threw the towel in cos couldn't stand the pressure any more. Used to be tall and skinny, now, still tall but my stable belt would need a 20 inch implant. Nice to be on board lads Peter PS I hate football.
